🌅 What is Golden Hour?
Golden hour is the ~27–45 minute window just after sunrise and just before sunset when the sun is within 6° above the horizon. The low angle produces warm, orange-gold light with long shadows — ideal for portrait and landscape photography.
🌫️ What is Blue Hour?
Blue hour occurs during civil twilight, when the sun is 0–6° below the horizon. The diffused indirect light creates a cool blue tone across the sky — perfect for cityscapes, architectural photography, and astrophotography setup.
📍 Why times differ by city?
India spans 30° of longitude (68°E to 97°E), so sunrise can differ by nearly 2 hours between Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh — even though both use IST (UTC+5:30). Our calculator uses NOAA's solar algorithm with each city's exact coordinates.
📷 Photography tips
Arrive 15 minutes before golden hour begins. Morning golden hour is often clearer (less haze, fewer clouds). Evening golden hour fades faster. Blue hour follows immediately after golden hour — don't pack up your camera too soon.
