Frequently Asked Questions

How are prayer times calculated?

Prayer times are calculated based on the sun's angle below the horizon. Fajr begins when the sun is approximately 15°–18° below the horizon before dawn. Each prayer has a specific solar condition that defines its start.

What is Tahajjud?

Tahajjud is a voluntary nocturnal prayer performed in the last third of the night, between Isha and Fajr. It is considered highly meritorious in Islam.

Do prayer times change daily?

Yes. Because they depend on actual sunrise and sunset times (which vary with latitude, longitude, and season), prayer times shift by a few minutes each day.

Islamic Prayer Times – Methodology

Solar-based calculation using standard Hanafi/Shafi method. Fajr: ~90 min before sunrise. Dhuhr: solar noon +2 to +32 min. Asr: afternoon shadow equals object height. Maghrib: sunset +3 to +33 min. Isha: sunset +90 to +120 min. Tahajjud: Isha end +60 min to Fajr start.
